Yesterday, long time team mate Angie from Washington, posted on my wall inquiring about a video I posted months ago featuring one of my best friends (Emily of Badknight). First of all, I always love hearing from folks in this group- mostly because life and priorities have had to change in the last year and I don’t get to stay in touch as well anymore, however much I wish I could. Second, how awesome is it to know that a) someone across the country was influenced and inspired by something I shared and b) I was sharing the talents of one of my best friends from childhood?

Emily’s sweet and soothing voice is a wonder on it’s own but to know her endearing nature makes it even more amazing to know her. Paired with Devin McKnight’s soulful flair, they are an unstoppable dream team. I’m proud to be able to say I’ve performed in an oldies trio with her for over 5 years, let me tell you she does some mean Supremes covers!
Angie was searching for Badknight’scover of “Love Me Tender”, an old Elvis Presley tune. They casually recorded their version around Valentine’s Day this past year. I trust everyone knows it, but to hear Emily sing it makes the listening experience brand spankin’ new.It is my life goal to introduce people to amazing music through film some day. The ultimate dream is to be sharing the talents of my closest friends with the world matched to powerful visuals that stick to your insides. Yesterday I got to experience a tiny shred of what that level of success must feel like. The pride and inspiration takes over when you receive confirmation of your confidence in someone all along.I’ve been a professional musician for years and years now, I consider myself pretty critical but also forgiving when it comes to critiquing music. My friends have to work extra hard to strike those chords with me, but they often do and it shocks me every time. To be surrounded by such talent is an overwhelming position to be in all the time, especially being the dreamer I am with finding success.Badknight is currently working on their second album. I hope to post some of their music here soon. In the meantime, check out the video that not only brought Angie back around, but inspired me too.
Now’s as good a time as ever to say that for the past year I’ve been working on my own EP. It’s being produced by one of my good friends Steve Aliperta, you’ve heard his work paired with some SGP team projects before (TLTBG trailer for one). He’s opened his own studio (Kennedy Studios) and has helped me transform my writing styles and sounds. Will post something from that soon!
