Who Inspires You?

Obviously there are those people who are a part of your life who influence who you are and who you look up to, for example for me it’s my cousins, they are my heroes and I have always looked up to them and I always will. These are the people that shape who we are and who we become.

So I have been struggling to find something worth anything to write about that may mean something to someone who reads it, and then I read the recent post by Hilarie on the SOGOPRO website and it got me thinking about how influential other people can be to you even if you have never met them. They could have a quality or maybe it’s the profession they are in that inspires you.

For me it is usually musicians who hold this quality, Kate Voegele is an example. The way she sings and the lyrics she uses in her songs inspire me in all sorts of ways. She is someone I look up to because of the way she inspires me and I hope to be able to inspire someone, even if it’s just one person, in the same way.

What I also find fascinating is how a fictional character can also influence one person. My biggest dream in life is to own my own recording studio and it was as I’m sure most of you have guessed inspired by the character of Peyton Sawyer. Without this character I would never have realised how much music really meant to me or how I wanted to help create music that might change someone else’s life.

However it’s not only P. Sawyer who has inspired me but Hilarie herself too. If it weren’t for her I would never have come across SOGOPRO which has changed my life. It gives me a place to write about my passions and the people and things that inspire me and through this maybe I can somehow inspire the next person or even just make someone smile, because as Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: “To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, that is to have succeeded.”

The reason I am writing this is because I think for me it is important to acknowledge the people who I look up to and who inspire me even if I have never actually met them because of how they have influenced my life and interests. To be able to inspire even one person in a positive way I truly believe is a gift and something that is worth trying to strive for.

Basically these people that I look up to don’t only inspire me to reach for my dreams but more importantly they inspire me to inspire the next person and if I can do that then I will have reached my dreams…
